Vild med Djursland

Take your
binoculars to
the north coast

On a beautiful, windless autumn day, a walk along this stretch is a special experience. The sea, the beach and the open coastal landscape make a lovely setting for the trip, and on days like these a magnificent calm can settle along the coast.

Bring your binoculars and enjoy the rich birdlife. Out at sea you may see flocks of mallards and common scoters, among others, while geese and whooper swans migrate along the coast or rest in the area. Along the water's edge you may be lucky enough to see oystercatchers, flocks of dunlins and other wading birds searching for food. In the shallows you may spot grey herons hunting.

How to spot the white-tailed eagle: Often you notice the eagle before you actually see it. Keep an eye on the birds on the water and along the coast. If large flocks of ducks, geese or gulls suddenly become restless, cry out and take off, it can be a sign that a white-tailed eagle is nearby. Look up and follow the birds' flight – you may catch sight of the eagle over the coast or the countryside.
